DIY flower crown/ currently wearing

I would like to share with you fast, easy and affordable flower crown tutorial. It took me 20 minutes to make it and I spent CHF14 ( $14) in our local flower shop. I ended up choosing real flowers over silk ones as those, that I found, were too expensive and not nice enough. In free weeks, I am going to be at Paléo Festival which will be the best occasion to wear my flower crown.

It is my favorite summer music festival of the year. Besides music, Paléo is about the atmosphere. It is fun, it is alive and it will make you feel like you entered different time and space. Besides your flower crown, rain boots are an absolute must. With 99% of certainty, it will rain. Yes, you’ll get muddy and wet but that is what summer music festivals are about, aren’t they? If you haven’t found the right pair yet, check my selection of rain boots at the end of the article.

What do you need?

  • real flowers from your local flower shop
  • floral wire (I was given one mine the florist but you can find it in a DIY store)
  • scissors or floral wire cutters

DIY flower crown tutorial_currently wearingDIY flower crown tutorial_currently wearingTake foliage and flowers with thick stems and circle the wire around it until you create the base of your crown. Start adding flowers and continue to fix them with the wire. Once you finished the crown, cut off the wire with scissors or floral wire cutters. Tie the ends together. You can adjust the form of the crown once you put it on your head. The flower crown will stay fresh for about 24 hours depending on the flowers that you choose.

Ohh, I am sure that a flower crown, if you use a lot of foliage and do it in an old Roman style, would definitely suit you, Didier!! Hugs

So pretty. Love the idea of real flowers. May I ask how to store it to stay a few days?

Hi Jessica, that is a great question. The flower crown is very ephemeral. I suggest that you make it right before you wear it as it will not last long. You should choose flowers that can last long without being in the water. It is a wonderful idea for a day at summer festival or wedding. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂 Hugs

How delicate and fanciful. Do you wrap the wire around the thicker stemmed plants? With little pieces of wire every so often or a crown of wire with the flowers twisted around it? Ugh. I have such trouble following directions but would love to make these for my grandbabies when they visit. Just lovely!

Hi Leslie, thank you for stopping by. Yes, you just wrap the wire around the stems it is very easy. Just choose a wire that is not too thick nor too thin.:-))
