Have you ever met someone who has kept her New Year’s resolution? Until recently, I would have said: “No! Are you kidding? No one keeps their New Year’s resolutions!” I would mean it because I used to be one of those people. But, as you probably guess, I found a way how to make New Year’s resolutions that I will keep. And I will share my recipe with you. In order to make New Year’s resolutions that you’ll keep, you have to:
1. BE REALISTIC
In essence, we don’t keep New Year’s resolutions for one simple reason: we don’t really want to change. You may believe that you really want to lose weight, eat more veggies, or going to a gym twice a week. But if you have not done it until now, it means that you are not motivated to do so. And maybe it is time to accept it.
2. KNOW YOURSELF
If you like sweets, accept it about yourself. But learn to move. And if you think that you have no time for sport, go for a walk during the weekends, get off a bus one stop earlier and walk to work. Just make time.
3. MAKE RESOLUTION FOR YOU
Don’t make resolutions to impress someone. If you stay realistic, know your strenghts and weaknesses, and make resolutions fo yourself, you have a big chance that you’ll keep them.
Thus, when you write down this New Year’s resolutions, look at them differently. Ask yourself why you chose them. What was preventing you from keeping them? What can you do differently this year to keep your New Year’s resolutions?
