I believe that if you shop at second hands you are more sustainable than if you buy new clothes in fast fashion stores. And in specialized second hands and consignment stores, you can find original and designer clothes.
It may seem like a big change at the beginning. But once you get used to shopping at seconds hands or consignment stores, you won’t want to get back to shopping at fast fashion stores. I understand that it is hard at the beginning to change your habits but if you know your motivation, it will be much easier.
For example, my reasons for shopping at consignment stores and second hands are:
- to be more sustainable by giving longer life to pre-loved clothes that would otherwise finish in a landfill,
- find original, great quality clothes that are cheaper than buying new garments,
- to support small local business owners that run second hands or consignment stores that I frequent.
