Lausanne is one of my favorite cities in Switzerland and that’s why we chose it for our latest romantic getaway.
It’s a beautiful city beaming with young, vibrant energy and rich cultural history. It’s an antidote to stiff and bourgeois Geneva. We come to Lausanne quite often and every time we come back fresh and renewed.
When Chloe-Sofia was at my parents for two weeks in July, we decided to focus on us as a couple and not only as a parent. We decided to spend a romantic weekend at the Royal Savoy Lausanne Hotel & Spa. We’ve visited the hotel several times before and always enjoyed our stay. It’s a magical, beautiful hotel where time stood still and you feel like in a fairy tale.
I have stayed in other five-star hotels in Lausanne but what makes Royal Savoy Lausanne Hotel & Spa different are the people and the atmosphere. One truly feels at home. Attention is paid to the smallest details when it comes to the decor, hospitality and the food.
This time we decided to try a picnic at the hotel premises – there is a gorgeous, quiet garden and the chef has prepared a picnic basket for us. It was fun and so romantic to sit in the grass, relax and just talk about anything and everything.
For dinner, we went to the Sky Lounge restaurant on the top floor of the hotel. It’s one of the best places I dined lately – and believe me, I am quite a critic. Again, I would recommend it for special occasions as it offers breathtaking views over Lac Léman. I personally prefer visiting special places like this one as a couple so that I can focus on my partner instead of running after our daughter.
