It is located in Alajuela province and it is an impressive act of nature with 200 feet/ 70 m of total height. If you don’t mind its chilling water, you can dive in the pool below the fall. We forgot our swimsuits but I don’t think we would plunge in with Chloe-Sofia at this age. It had to be really refreshing though as everyone who came out was telling us to jump in.

If you have a toddler, I recommend taking a carrier with you. You’ll climb down many stairs to reach the waterfall so you’d better forget about taking stroller. The hike is steep and going back is physically challenging. I found it quite hard but luckily Chloe-Sofia enjoys being carried. The only thing that bothered her was the heat. Once we undressed her and put her in only in her diaper, she started to have fun.

I brought with us a travel size sunscreen to cover her hands and legs that were sticking out. She does not like wearing a hat but as you hike in the forest, we were covered by the trees. When we were somewhere more exposed, like on the beach, I wore a large brim straw hat to keep her covered. Even if Alex thinks that I am too serious about it, it is better to be safe than sorry. Not to mention that he burnt his back on the beach, not me or Chloe-Sofia.

Besides bringing proper hiking clothes and swimsuit, I would recommend not to look around much. The forest is full of snakes and other creatures that I prefer not to see. I am true Ophidiophobic – I can’t even see a picture of snake without feeling sick. Meeting a real snake is definitely not on my bucket list. Do you have some animal phobia as well?
