What fruit is your favorite? If I have to list five, bananas would be on the top. Followed by cherries, apples, strawberries and blueberries. Besides being sweet, filling and simply delicious, bananas are high in antioxidants. They contain high levels of tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin. In other words, bananas make you feel better- like exercise or sex.
Did you know that you can polish your leather shoes and accessories with the inside of a banana peel? Well, I did not know either. Just rub it on and polish with a dry cloth for a quick shine. And while we are there, why not try rejuvenating your leather sofa and biker jacket as well? But on a serious note and to get back to what the title suggest, you can use bananas to brighten up your skin.
Besides that, a homemade banana facial mask can calm your nerves (thanks to its pleasant smell) and make you feel happy and relaxed. It is one of the most simplest facial masks you can make. All you need is:
- half of ripe banana,
- tablespoon of freshly squeezed orange juice,
- tea spoon of honey.
Mash the banana, add the orange juice and honey and mix it all well into a thick paste. Apply the banana facial mask to your skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water and apply your usual moisturizer. I like to use bio Aloe Vera gel. I get it in Costa Rica but I am sure you can find pure Aloe Vera gel in your pharmacy or local drugstore.
