Looking for a stroller is very similar to choosing a partner. No matter what they say, it is either love at first sight or a complete fiasco. Besides safety and practicability (easy to fold and maneuver), it should be also modern and stylish. I am not saying that it must be handsome but at least pleasant to the eye would suffice.
I have to admit that I found the whole “looking for a stroller” process quite daunting. With so many brands on the market, it is difficult to make a choice. I read reviews online and watched videos to see which stroller is the easiest to fold with one hand while you holding your baby in the other one (which I never accomplished in real life scenario). I asked around which didn’t help at all because every person had different requirements and budget.
We knew that we would use the stroller in the city and we were not planning to jog with it. During weekends, we move around in our car so we wanted a stroller that would be compatible with a car seat, easy to fold and fit in the trunk. Besides that, we were looking for a stroller with modern features, swivel heels and an adjustable height of the carrycot as we are both tall and did not want to lean over to reach our baby. We shortlisted several strollers but before we got to buying one, my brother-in-law gave us a stroller as a present. It was a good, reliable stroller and we were happy with it. Still, it was not the one I secretly dreamed about. When Stokke contacted me to write a review about their Xplory stroller, I could not believe it at first. Not only that I know the brand (we love their Flexi Bath), but Stokke Xplory was one of the strollers on my wishlist.
We chose “black melange” color which is dark grey with black lining. It is super elegant and chic. The stroller is easy to maneuver and fold, and it doesn’t take much space in the trunk of our car. It has lockable swivel wheels and adjustable seat height which we are totally in love with. In comparison to our old stroller, Chloe-Sofia is positioned much higher and can look into our eyes more easily. I think she feels closer to us. She loves sitting in the padded seat and look up at the trees. Right now we fixed the seat in the parent facing position but when Chloe-Sofia gets older, we will turn it so that she can face forward. The stroller comes with a spacious diaper bag and a shopping bag, a mosquito net (comes in handy in the evening by the lake or when we go to Costa Rica) and an umbrella.
Now, just between you and me, I must confess to something- I love the stroller so much that I use it only on the weekend. I know it is silly but what if it gets scratched if we use it on a daily basis? Or stolen when we leave it in the kindergarten? Well, that’s me- when I like something, I don’t want to use it too much.
