The other day, a friend asked me what the term “festival fashion” means.  For me, festival fashion is about feeling as comfortable as possible. Until last night, it was around 40 degrees Celsius in Switzerland and in order to survive Paleo (the biggest open-air music festival in the French part of Switzerland), one had to be very selective. When it is hot, I go for shorts, tank top or a light blouse. If it rains, like yesterday, I rely on my rain boots, jeans and a waterproof jacket with a large hood. The most challenging part, when it rains, is getting to the festival. Most of the time, we go on a scooter which means that you get wet even before you get there. Yesterday was raining so much, that we had to go by car.

Because it was raining so much, the whole festival was covered with mud. But that is the beauty of summer festivals- you really don’t care how you look and what you wear. The only thing that matters is music and the atmosphere. Last night was the first time I saw Sting perform live and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

When I attend an open-air music festival, I rarely wear any jewelry or expensive bags. I carry my essentials in one of my bucket bags (similar style here) and adorn my hair with a flower crown. This year I fell for a feather hairpiece from a Swiss brand Bombom Bijoux that I discovered few weeks ago. Their handmade jewelry is inspired by sweets (such as macarons, sugar or meringues) and they use mixed materials from around the world. I like their fresh, young collection (you can see the hairpiece in today’s photos).

What are your festival essentials?
