a ma fille

Your full name: Theresa Hamilton

Name of your brand: à ma fille

 1. When and where did you start your brand ?

Rolle, Switzerland.  The idea first came to me in 2009.  However, it took nearly 2 years to find the right space and open the boutique.

2. Describe your brand in three words.

Fringues aux traditions respectueuses

3. What makes your designs different from the others?

The boutique focuses at the moment on the concept of sustainable clothing for women.  It is a political statement against todays ‘fast fashion’ marketplace.  All the pieces are original and unique and not easily found in Switzerland.

4. What materials do you work with and why?

The clothing is made according to ethical and ecological principles.  The designers I work with use only natural materials such as organic cotton, silk, organic wools.  The designers work to reduce environmental impact by using environmentally safe dyes and producing the items in the same country where the materials are sourced.  Many designers work with small workshops and family run businesses.

5. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My children.  The entire concept of the boutique is my way of leaving a legacy to them of respect for the environment and for those that make our clothes.

6. Which famous designer would you like to meet in person and why?

Livia Firth –she is an inspiration for the movement with her Green Carpet Challenge.

7. Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I would like to be the retailer that designers want to be seen in.  I would like to develop the brand into a lifestyle brand that encompasses the current concept.  I want to be a curator of clothing, objects and other products that facilitate a sustainable lifestyle.

8. Where do you like to shop?

À ma fille, of course.

In one word:

Sweet or salty? Sweet.

City or country? Country,

Coffee or tea? Coffee.

Book or TV? TV.

Night in or night out? Night out.
