I have been eyeing pearl denim shorts for months now. The first time that I saw pearl denim was during an event that I attended a few months back. The girl, who wore them, looked relaxed, understated and chic. She had this “je ne sais quoi” aura about her and I fell in love with that look. By the time we reached summer, I noticed pearl denim everywhere.

The nice thing about pearl denim is that it is not about the age but about the way you style them. I decided to wear mine with an off-the-shoulder pink blouse. As the shorts are super short, I chose this blouse on purpose as it has long sleeves. I always felt that if you wear shorts or mini skirts, you should cover your upper part and vice versa. It is all about balancing it out.

Today, I would like to share with you an easy tutorial on how to make your own DIY pearl denim shorts (or jeans). It will take you maximum 20 minutes and it is an easy way to update your old pair of shorts (or jeans).

What you need:

  • A pair of denim pants
  • Thread and needle
  • Pearl beads

Time:

10-20 minutes

  • Thread the needle and iron your jeans. Sew the beads as you wish on the jeans. Make sure that you fix them strong enough so that they don’t fall off when you wash them. I recommend that you wash them in a mesh net (same one as for your delicate clothes). It is very practical because if one bead falls off, it won’t get stuck in your washing machine and you won’t have to look for it.
