Every time I wear a Panama hat, I start humming The Girl from Ipanema. It is one of the most popular songs in the world that seduces you with its enchanting rhythm of bossa nova (you can hear the original version here).

The Panama hat, that I am wearing, does not come from Panama, but from Ecuador. It is made from toquilla palm leaves and handwoven in a traditional way. It is sold by a fashion conscious brand based in California that donates certain percentage of the sales to the weaving community in Ecuador.

I styled it with shorts made by one of my favorite Swiss designers- M.I.C.I. You have already seen several looks on the blog (and more is coming). I like the elegant fusion of African prints, craftship and modern designs. Each piece is original, feminine and unique. To make the whole look more dramatic, I wore a smokey eye makeup and tied my hair in a low bun. I wanted to create a different look that would be a bit edgy and not soft and feminine as I tend to create.
