Arrow_studio_lausanne_interview

Your full name: Mélanie Begg

Name of your brand: Arrow Studio

1. When and where did you start your brand ?

In Lausanne, in June 2013.

2. Describe your brand in three words:

Essential – Minimalist – Timeless.

3. What makes your designs different from the others?

As we are living in a world where season and weather change so quickly I want to design pieces that can be worn everyday of the year. It has to be something that lasts. That is why my designs are basic, simple and sharp.

4. What materials do you work with and why?

I choose fabrics carefully. I want them to be resistant. I work with stretch leather for the skirts because it is very comfortable and the shape is clean. My t-shirts are made of cotton and cashmere. Combining these two materials makes them incredibly soft and flexible.  And the sweatshirts  are made of cotton and wool- that makes them soft and warm when it is cold outside.

5. Who/ what is your biggest inspiration and why?

I get inspired by various things: music, people in the street or people I meet,  landscape, a special moment… Why? I can’t explain it, it is in me!

6. Which famous designer would you like to meet in person and why?

Maison Martin Margiela. He makes clothes with “a twist” that you would never think of and it his clothes is timeless.

7. Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I hope that in five years Arrow Studio will be able to offer to our clients a whole, essential wardrobe.

8. Where do you like to shop?

Most of the time on internet. The market in Switzerland is quite poor in style and design.

  In one word:

Sweet or salty? Both.

City or country? Both.

Coffee or tea? Tea indeed, my English side is coming out. 😉

Book or TV?  TV, I can get bored reading.

Night in or night out?  Night in.
